Leids Laken #2

This design was made for the competition “New cloth from Leiden #2” (museum de Lakenhal, Leiden). The sample was exhibited from May until August 2015.

The design shows the production process of the Leiden Cloth in an abstract way. The design has 40 strokes which stands for the 40 people that were committed during the process of making the Leiden Cloth fabric in the 17th century. The fabric has two sides; a white-blue and a white-red side, which stands for the blue and red dyers that existed in the history of this interesting and beautiful production process and wool fabric.
